Manthan '09! Join in our voices

 ‘Manthan’ is an endeavor towards bringing together college students to address various issues that concern our contemporary society. This event is aimed to foster a belief in the youth that they can be the instruments of change. We hope to achieve our goal through the medium of street theatre.

Street plays are short plays, traditionally performed in crowded areas to attract local audience. These plays are based on social issues and are meant to educate the general public about the same.

The event is designed to be spread over a period of 23 days which will witness performances at different places in and around Delhi. Each performance shall be followed by a discussion involving guest speakers and the general public. Each day shall witness about four performances.

Manthan ‘09 comes at a time when it is needed the most. Our country is plagued by internal and external crisis, and we have seen it all during 2008- terrorist attacks, communal riots, regional rifts, crime against women and complete political paralysis in a democracy as proud as ours.

What we seek to achieve through Manthan ‘09 is to reach out to young people, to get them thinking about issues that matter and those which ultimately will impact the destiny of our nation. We also want to reach out to like minded capable youth who recognise their responsibility towards their community to further develop our own perspective.
