Convergence is defined as ‘the approach toward a definite value, a definite point, a common view or opinion, or toward a fixed or equilibrium state’ and we at Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies feel exactly the same. The annual flagship national business convention of the college – ‘Convergence’, aims at mulling over the most contentious issues pertaining to business and economics, thereby arriving at a consensus to grapple with them in the most potent manner. The two-day convention, which is the only one of its kind in the University’s calendar, brings together the top brass of several big business houses and scores of students from across the spectrum.
The 2009 version of the event brings a plethora of attractions for its speakers and delegates. With an endeavor to bring the event closer to its biggest beneficiaries i.e. the student community – ‘Convergence’09’ is being held within the University’s North Campus. This year’s theme is ‘Containing Global Challenges,’ which in itself has been chosen after a lot of deliberation and contemplation. In the current precarious situation, it is of prime importance to learn from past mistakes and deal with future situations in the most effective manner, and in accordance with this fact, we aim to create a congenial forum which will ensure the evolution of effective solutions to deal with global problems that have an impact on businesses and economies across the world.
While the first day will focus on strategic global challenges which merit action from both the national governments and business houses, the second day will witness business barons mooting ways of combating imminent issues, which have the potency of snowballing into huge stumbling blocks in the future.
THEME: CONTAINING GLOBAL CHALLENGES
DAY 1: Global Strategic Challenges
1. Increasing Need for Risk Management

Geetika Ganju has been missing from the party circuit for a while now. But the girl has a valid reason – her mother’s not been keeping too well.
Geetika’s mother underwent a knee-replacement surgery earlier this week. Says Geetika, “It was a major operation. You know how the world seems to stand still if anything happens to your parents. That is how the past few days have been. Though I must say my mother has been a very brave woman and has faced everything calmly,” said Geetika. Well, Geetika, we wish your mother a speedy recovery!
3 Jun 2009, 0000 hrs IST, TNN

Geetika met former president APJ Abdul Kalam at an event in Dehradun and says that she was over the moon when she met him. “Normally, I never get overwhelmed. I work with film and sports personalities and politicians… but Dr Kalam is just too great. He is humble and has a pleasant personality. He’s someone who truly loves his country. For me, he is the number one role model for each and every Indian,” said a really excited Geetika.

Hey cbsites!!
Mid sems are over..and you all must be hoping that finally you would get some time to let your hair down on this holi (n yeah before i forget HAPPY HOLI to all!!))…But sorry to be a mood spoiler before you get anymore whimsical and get all occupied in the festival of colours and now a days of pakka colours, egg and mud and every bit of disgusting gruesome stuff that you can find that day to throw at your friends(bura na mano holi hai!!) let me do a reality check.
We all hoped deep down that this day will never come in our lives..we blocked out it’s thought from our minds as if it is some kind of an illusion..but no more can we fool ourselves cause it means marks..internal marks..So, it is again that time of year when we’ll be running helter skelter all over the place to get print outs, photo copies and googling all night away to finish off our projects(remember??) which are supposed to be sumbmitted by 15th march, but oye its sunday..and so we would get one extra day(as if that is gonna make any difference
) to copy paste..right??
So gear up people coz the nightmare is still far from getting being over. Mid semester was just the starting..cbsites have lot more reasons to get those sleepless nights….but take no tension..chill out..enjoy your HOLIday..and projects??..well voh to hume last minute complete krne ki adat hai
..otherwise we don’t get that adrenaline rush..and without that there is no fun..!!
